Grass Fed Beefalo for your Freezer

What is a "beefalo"?  Simply, it is a beef animal which contains both buffalo and domestic beef genetics, to produce an animal with the lean, healthy meat of the buffalo, but with the added managablity of the domestic beef cow.  Our meat is always grass fed, for the customer interested in both health (remember those "healthy" Omega fats in grass fed meat!) and local, happy animals, raised as naturally as possible.  Is our meat entirely grass-fed?  Usually, though sometimes we do, for one reason or another, have an animal which has also been supplemented with some grain, which adds marbling to the meat.

At the Farm--We have a small farm salesroom attached to our home at 151 Laurel St, Marlborough, NH, where you can purchase smaller quantities of beefalo.

Ground:  $6.50 per pound

Steaks:  $8.50 per pound

 By the Whole or Half Carcass:

Bone in Hanging Weight is $3.50 per pound, plus slaughter, cut, and wrap at $1.80 per pound, brings the cost to (about) $5.30 per pound.

Our farm is the proud recipient of the New Hampshire Cooperator of the Year Award, presented by the New Hampshire Association of Conservation District.  This award is given to farms which utilize methods known to preserve and improve the land, pastures, woodlands, and watershed.  We rotationally graze our cattle (the Happy Herd you see grazing the Cooper Hill field on Rte 101 in Marlborough is ours!), a method which actually improves grassland, for the benefit not only of the cows, but also for wildlife, such as deer and birds. 

Much of the land we graze is in permanent conservation with Monadnock Conservancy and/or the New England Forrestry Association.
